Section Weekend at Cottage Lea's Hotel at Pickering 28th-30th Sept 2018
This year’s section weekend we were based on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Cottage Lea's Hotel is set within its own beautiful private grounds just 3 miles from the market town of Pickering. Cottage Lea’s is a family run independent hotel, owned by mother and two daughters Liz, Charlotte and Rebecca.
Once everyone hard arrived, we sat down for a wonderful cream tea, allowing time for us to catch up on the gossip. After our evening meal we retired to the lounge bar to enjoy the delights of a log burning stove and a quiz hosted by Martin of which Dilys, Rod and Derek and Viv were the winners.
On Saturday we visited Castle Howard were the cars were briefly parked in front of the house for a photo opportunity. On our return to the hotel some members decided visited Eden camp and others The North Yorkshire Moor Railway in Pickering. It was their Steam Gala Weekend with guest steam locomotive 92 Squadron a Bulleid
Battle of Britain' class pacific locomotive Nº34081being the main attraction.
After our evening meal on Saturday night we were treated to a ‘feely night by Nick and Anita Clark, I will leave this to your imagination.
On Sunday we had a scenic drive over the North Yorkshire Moors to Ruswarp just outside Whitby meeting up at the Riverside Cafe for tea, coffee and a scone. By mid afternoon members started to drift away on their homeward journeys. A good weekend was had by all.
