Ramside Hall Co Durham 'Drive It Day' 21st April 2013
The North Eastern Section of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club got together with the Jaguars Drivers Club Area 11 for the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) 'Drive it Day' on the 21st April. As in other years, we met up at Ramside Hall outside Durham City, where we had coffee before setting off for this year run. The route was prepared by Derek Moss our Section Chairman with all parties setting off at timed intervals. Derek’s instructions sent us east towards Murdon via scenic country lanes that took us towards the north east coast. At Seaburn we turned north to follow the Coast Road as it known locally to Sunderland, over the Wearmouth Bridge and onward to South Shields via Whitburn Sea Front. The route then took us south to West Boldon, Penshaw, Houghton le Spring and finally back to Ramside Hall where we all had Sunday lunch. Fortunately the weather stayed dry for the drive which made the day much more enjoyable, not having to wash and leather the cars off when you get home.
